Just this side of Heaven is a place called the Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
hat pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.

  All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;
those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing:
they each miss someone very special, someone who has been left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver.
Suddenly, he breaks from the group, flying over the green grass, faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head,
and you look once more into those trusting eyes,
so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together...

We Dedicated Our Ceremony To List Member Greg Smith

In Greg's memory Guardian Angel Dell read a special poem:

An Indian Poem

I give you this,
one thought to keep,
I am with you still,
I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken
in the morning's hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars
that shine at night.

Do not think of me as gone-
I am with you still,
in each new dawn.

Guardian Angel Dona then read for us "The Fragile Circle"
as we lit candles for the list members who have lost a beloved epi or epi-pal
and could not be with us this evening.

 The Fragile Circle

We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own,
live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached.
Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way.
We cherish memory as the only certain immortality,
never fully understanding the necessary plan.

Carol's Jesse

We then lit candles for our epi pups who crawled into our hearts,
brought joy to our lives and now live in our hearts forever:

Roger and Pam's Luke

We had a silent prayer while Guardian Angel Dell read "Your Memory Last":

Your Memory Lasts

Friends may think we have forgotten
when at times they see us smile
Little do they know the heartaches
that our smiles hide, all the while.
Beautiful memoris are wonderful things
that last till the longest day.
They never wear out, they never get lost
and can never be given away.
To some you may be forgotten
To others, a part of the past
But to those who love and lost you,
Your memory will always last

Bonnie's Murray

We said a prayer for these special pups while Guardian Angel Vicky read "The Gates of Heaven":

The Gates of Heaven

When I got to the gates of heaven
After we said goodbye,
I began to miss you terribly,
Because I heard you cry.

Suddenly there was an angel,
And she asked me to enter heaven's gate.
I asked her if I could stay outside
For someone who would be late.

I wouldn't make much noise you see,
I wouldn't bark or howl,
I'll only wait here patiently
And play with my tennis ball.

The angel said I could stay right here
And wait for you to come,
Because heaven just wouldn't be heaven
If I went in alone.

So I'll wait right here, you take your time,
But keep me in your heart,
Because heaven just wouldn't be heaven
Without you to warm my heart.

We then lit candles for the 6 epi pals who brought
so much joy and special moments to our lives:

Guardian Angel Linda and Jim's Frank

Helen's TJ

Bev and Cody's Lucky and Kitty Marva

We then offered a silent prayer for all the beautiful epi pups and pals while
Guardian Angel Linda K read "Tribute To A Friend":

Tribute To A Friend

Sunlight streams through window pane unto a spot on the floor...
then I remember, it's where you used to lie, but now you are no more.

Our feet walk down a hall of carpet, and muted echoes sound...
then I remember, It's where your paws would joyously abound.

A voice is heard along the road, and up beyond the hill,
then I remember it can't be yours...your voice is still.
But I'll take that vacant spot of floor and empty muted hall
and lay them with the absent voice and unused dish along the wall.

I'll wrap these treaured memories in a blanket of my love
and keep them for my best friend until we meet above

Kathy's Oreo

Lori's Kandy

Finally we lit a candle for each of the 3 webmail pups who have gone to the Bridge since March
and a candle for the health and long life of our epi's still struggling with this devastating disease while
Guardian Angel Linda K read a selection from the poem “To Those I Love”

…Grieve not. Nor speak of me with tears
but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you…
I loved you so….’twas heaven here with you.

The Candlelight Memorial Ceremony was then concluded.
