| THYROID PROFILE
(D8T) 6-PANEL TEST Collect 3 to 5 ml of blood. Add to red top-tube (or serum separator tube (SST), unless measuring drug levels). Allow to clot and centrifuge to separate serum. DO NOT SEND UN-SEPARATED BLOOD. Transfer serum to empty red-top or plastic tube (1.5 ml serum is required for the Thyroid Antibody test). This test includes T3, T4, Free T3, Free T4, T3 auto antibodies and T4 auto antibodies. NOTE: If your dog is already on thyroid medication the blood should be drawn four to six (4-6) hours after giving the thyroid medication. Also you should write the number of hours between dosing and the blood draw on the information form. |

Reminder: These lab profiles are being offered as part of a collaborative research project on thyroid, metabolism, behavioral and seizure disorders. Special prices have been assigned to these tests. Your veterinarian will charge an additional amount to cover drawing blood, preparing the blood, record keeping and overhead. Please respect their needs.
Please prepare the specimen according to the directions for each test. Pack vial(s) in a small sturdy cardboard box with padding to cushion vial(s), and ship via Post Office Express mail or Federal Express next afternoon to:

Hemopet, a non-profit organization, will submit the samples to a qualified reference lab for analysis. Dr. Dodds will interpret the results and provide written interpretation and recommendations to your vet. Please include your vet's fax number and your fax number if you also wish a copy.
